This polyoz email list should be called “Boring middle aged middle class cosmopolitan australians who legitimise their patriarchal family structures by calling it polyamory instead of ‘cheating’”
Sorry mates, but all your families are 1 man with 2 women.
Would you consider our family to be 1 man with 2 women? I don’t know from where you got that impression, but considering the two families I got to know more closely, it looks like there are less men because the men seem to have women lovers, while the women have lovers of both genders. And there’s a lot of intersections between who’s who’s lovers.
Yeah I was thinking about that little hypocrisy on my way to work this morning.
I consider my ‘family’ to be me with a man and a woman. What really galled me was more that email from that giuy who wanted a ‘household of females’. It just seemed creepy to me, and without any analysis of how fucked patriarchy is, or how failed monogamy is in reality.
Wow, just came across this interesting (old) post. Apparently you haven’t spent very much time looking at the PolyOz email list. I have been subscribed to it for about three years. Such posters as you (rightly) distain are rare and rarely linger. They are often answered with tactful (and sometimes lees tactful) suggestions to come to a meetup and actually, like, talk to people before specifying requirements.
It looks like we agree to disagree on this. I’ve been to a meetup, I’ve seen the site, I’ve been on the email list… and polyoz just doesn’t make sense to me. It appears self-delusional. But that’s just my opinion.
Hello there,
I just found your post while proving a point about how irrelevant the poly-oz website is.
As a currently (but perhaps not for much longer) PolyOz member, I thought I’d point out that I have two male partners and one female partner.
Most of the people I hang with are from Poly-Vic though, and the demographics there are quite different.
